Don’t forget that one of the easiest things to do is something! If you download the Snap, Send Solve app you will always be prepared to tick your DOT (Do One Thing) box. Sometimes the results do not happen straight away, but in most cases – there will be a positive result. Here is our next example of a street sign not being properly secured or maintained. Thanks to a Snap, Send, Solve the problem was (eventually) fixed by the relevant council.
Ten NHW groups from around the state have applied for a Get Online Week (GOLW) Grant through NHWA. A GOLW activity is fun, engaging and if you attend, you will learn something that you did not know beforehand. Successful groups will be announced in The Bulletin, as soon as we know the result of the applications. Members are encouraged to make every effort to attend a GOLW near them in the week 14 to 20 October 24.
Our Calendar Drawing Competition closed on 31 July 24 and all winners have been notified. We are working hard to have the Calendar published for the launch at our AGM, Awards and Prize Giving Ceremony at the Country Club on Saturday, 19 October 24. The AGM starts at 10am and all members from across the state are invited to attend. There will be plenty of morning tea for all!
This event will also recognise deserving NHW members who have made a significant contribution to NHW and their communities, often over many years of service. If you are not standing for election; or if you are on a diet and don’t want morning tea; please come to support the members we are honouring and the children who won prizes in our Calendar Drawing Competition.
Nationally, NHW partners with Neighbourhood Support in New Zealand through Neighbourhood Watch Australasia (NHWA). In August, the Kiwis are promoting Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK) which build that sense of community, safety and wellbeing.
As they say, All it takes is a kind gesture to make someone’s day! Try one out – share this list.
