What is it?

Neighbourhood Watch Tasmania (NHW) is again sponsoring a drawing competition for primary school students in 2026 for our Calendar in 2027. The theme this year is, My neighbourhood, a safe and happy community. Some ideas to think about when doing your drawing might be:

• Who are your neighbours?
• What work do your neighbours do?
• What do good neighbours do?
• How can we make our neighbourhoods safer?
• How can we help the police and other emergency services?

Who can enter?

The competition is open to children resident in Tasmania who will be under 13 years of age on 1 January 2027. Entries need to be drawn or painted by hand and submitted on A4 size paper without folding lines. The competition starts now and closes on 31 May 26. All entries must be received with a complete Entry Form. Entries are limited to one per person.

Entries should be hand drawn without computer or Artificial Intelligence assistance.

Winners and Prizes?

Winners will be judged in eight age categories, from 5 years and under, to 12 years of age. Winning entries will be published in the NHW Calendar for 2027. Winners will be announced before 31 August 26 and those children, and their families, will be invited to attend the Neighbourhood Watch Awards Ceremony at the Tasmania Police Academy in Rokeby on Saturday, 17 October 26, to be presented with a prize of $100 and a certificate recognising their individual achievement.
