Neighbourhood Watch is for people prepared to make their neighbourhood a better place to live. This first Bulletin for 2025 lists events happening throughout the year. It also has suggestions for easy things you can do to contribute to your community.

Here are two grant opportunities that you could help your NHW Coordinator apply for.
Neighbours Every Day and Healthy Tasmania – Community Grants
Grants up to $1 500 for events that foster neighbourly connections. Think of:

It’s not just clothes — from overgrown vegetation to broken swings, there’s plenty to Snap this holiday period. What can we do?

Going away on holiday? Don’t make it obvious. Leave lights on a timer and shoes by the front door. Don’t hide keys outside, leave them with a trusted neighbour who will keep an eye out and empty your letterbox while you are away. See lots more home security tips in our November NHWA Journal
Belonging is the sense of safety and comfort we feel when we are accepted for who we are. it’s a genuine acceptance that makes us feel connected and supported. One way we can improve belonging for ourselves, and others, is to listen.
Hearing someone is one of the most powerful ways we can show them that they belong. This doesn’t always mean agreeing with them, it means acknowledging what they have said and how they feel.
Another way to achieve belonging will be published each Bulletin. Share each tip with your Facebook friends. Practice it yourself!
