WELCOME TO 2025!

Neighbourhood Watch is for people prepared to make their neighbourhood a better place to live. This first Bulletin for 2025 lists events happening throughout the year. It also has suggestions for easy things you can do to contribute to your community.

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

Here are two grant opportunities that you could help your NHW Coordinator apply for.

Neighbours Every Day and Healthy Tasmania – Community Grants

Grants up to $1 500 for events that foster neighbourly connections. Think of:

  • Cuppa with a Cop
  • picnics
  • bake sales
  • tea parties
  • BBQs
  • And more, limited only by your imagination!

Find out how to apply.

Project 75

In celebration of their 75th year, Relationships Australia Tasmania is researching what a connected and respectful community means to Tasmanians. Community members prepared to contribute an hour of their time can help win a $500 gift card for their community group. Find out more here: https://tas.relationships.org.au/75-years/.

CALENDAR DRAWING COMPETITION

Once again there will be a competition for primary school children to have their drawings appear as feature pages in our 2026 Calendar. The competition opens on 1 February 25 and closes on 31 May 2025. Your challenge is to encourage at least one child to enter. More details in our February Bulletin.

If you haven’t yet got a copy of our 2025 Calendar, please check with your Coordinator as they may still have a few left.

See photos of last year’s winners at our Awards and Prize Giving Ceremony at the Country Club, Launceston, in October 24.

SNAP, SEND, SOLVE

Downloading the Snap, Send, Solve App (and using it) must be the easiest way for anyone to help improve their neighbourhood. Dumped rubbish, obscured road signs or potholes – you can help fix them all by SNAPPING a photo with your phone and pressing SEND!!

street damages

You can do it. It really is that easy!!

HOLIDAY SECURITY TIPS – NO. 2

Expecting a package? To avoid porch and front door thieves, request signature confirmation for your delivery, arrange to have your parcel held at the post office, or have a trusted neighbour receive it for you.

See lots more home security tips in our November NHWA Journal which is also online, just open this link to view at: https://issuu.com/countrywideaustral/docs/nhw_australasia_november_2024?fr=sZDMwMzY0NjY4OTE

10 WAYS TO ACHIEVE BELONGING

Each edition of this Bulletin will publish another way to achieve belonging. Belonging is the sense of safety and comfort we feel when we are accepted for who we are. Share each tip with your Facebook friends. Practice it yourself!

We can improve belonging for ourselves, and others, through giving.

Giving connects two people, the giver and the receiver, and this connection creates a new sense of belonging.
