Our Calendar Drawing competition closes on 31 May 25. Every member is challenged to encourage at least one primary school child to enter for a $100 prize and the chance that their drawing will feature in the 2026 Neighbourhood Watch Calendar. The theme is How to be a good neighbour. More information and entry forms are on our website at: https://nhwtas.org.au/calendar-drawing-competition/.
Congratulations to the new Kingston Central NHW team. On Saturday, 26 April 25, they held a Bunnings Barbecue at Kingston and their Do One Thing (DOT) for 2025 realised a healthy profit!! Other groups can be encouraged by their success which has come from passion and leadership. Neighbolurhood Watch is about doing all sorts of stuff to make your community a better place.
Nominations for Neighbourhood Watch Tasmania Awards are always open, but they do have to be received by 30 June 25. We have many worthwhile contributors to our objects and purpose but often their achievements will only be recognised if someone tells us about them. If you know someone who should receive one of our awards, send an email with their details to admin@nhwtas.org.au and we will do the rest – can you think of any reason not to?
Tasmania Police recently launched their new outreach van’ Poli which is a direct result of advice from recent surveys and research for police to improve their visibility and in-person contact across Tasmanian communities.
Commissioner Donna Adams said that Poli will attend local events, including schools, community and sporting activities to:
Keep Poli in mind for your next event to help Tasmania Police better engage with your community. For more information, access this link: www.police.tas.gov.au/poli.
This October we will be promoting three significant activities where our members and friends can contribute to the wellbeing of their neighbourhoods and promote the good things about being a part of Neighbourhood Watch.
For a number of years Neighbourhood Watch has conducted statewide operations out of Your ABC at the gateway to Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania. Other organisations also operate out of this address, and we have now joined them by placing our NHW sign on the entrance plinth to promote our brand and clearly mark where we can be located. Please check it out when next you enter Hobart on Liverpool Street. A special thanks to Callum Calder who did the graphic design work and Flying Colours for delivering the final product.
